Lost Hill, bluegrass is named after the "Lost Hill", apparently located on
the north side of Springfield, MO.
Our Brother, Big Jim Berry, went out a lookin' fer that thare hill, and ain't
found it yet ... but he says he's a gettin' a mighty close.
The Dry Sac River once looped north around a
long oak-coverred hill, but changed its channel some many years ago. It cut a path through the south end of the hill,
exposing scenic limestone bluffs while leaving the "Lost Hill" behind.
The City
of Springfield has turned the area into a beautiful Park, while keeping it's integrity & history alive. The Lost
Hill Park features a paved 1.8 mile trial, curving stone bluffs, rolling hills, seven caves and a Civil
War era family Cemetary. Ozark Greenways continues to work with the Parks Department so as to have the Lost Hill Park become
the midpoint in a 12 mile trail between Valley Mill Park and Ritter Springs.
The park is located 3
miles north of the Ozark Empire Fairgrounds, on the 4700 block of Farm Rd 151. Grant Street becomes Farm Rd 151, just outside
of City limits.
